Faith Applied

Oct 4, 2018

US adults check their smartphones between 80 and 150 times per day. Cell phone separation anxiety is a real thing, and many would go periods without chocolate, talking, or intercourse before going one day without their phone.

How connected are you to your smartphone?

Smartphones are super helpful, significant parts of our lives, but like anything used inappropriately or in excess, this tool can become a trap.

Today we discuss faith applied to productivity and smartphone use. We’ll explore four areas/applications where smartphone reliance/use is not so smart.

Mentioned in this episode:

  • Running list of most helpful and often used smartphone apps – discussion thread in the Faith Applied Community.  Not in the group? Click here to join {It’s free!}.
  • The 2017 film  “A Question of Faith” explores social, moral, and spiritual issues including texting and driving, organ donation, forgiveness, and racial reconciliation with a connecting examination of our relationship with God when faced with tragedy. The movie is available on Netflix
  • Smartphone use while driving is not smart.

“Often when we get in the car we pray for traveling grace. How about adding to that prayer for driving wisdom.” ~Nettye Johnson

If you smartphone drive, break that habit. Take the It Can Wait Pledge.

  • The First5 app provides a healthier alternative to hopping on social media in the first moments of our day by bringing life and Truth to the First 5 minutes of every day. {Great Bible study, devotion, and spiritual discipline development tool!)
  • Screen Time in iOS 12 helps curb phone addiction with tools to quantify how much time you spend on your iOS devices.
  •  Scripture reference Ephesians 5:15-16 KjV
